In the background in Mutnovsky Volcano, in the foreground is one of 4 craters in Gorely Volcano. On the extreme left hand side of this photograph you can see the edges of two other Gorely craters. The lake in the crater is extremely acidic. This image was composed from 3 pictures, shot with a Nikkor AF ED 24mm lens on a Fuji S2. Note, anyone caught throwing rocks over the edge here, by Russian scientist, will be lectured. Russian scientist believe that throwing rocks over a precipice is a bad habit to get into for a geologist. They say right now there may not be anyone below, but if you get into the habit of throwing rocks over the edge, eventually you will hit someone.
