Javelinas aka (javali or pecarí) Dec 10,2007

This morning a cold front pushed as far south as northern Brewster County Texas. A cool bank of fog rolled in and consumed the southern Davis mountains. Much of the resident wildlife of the Davis mountains abondaned their normal stomping grounds and visited the Alpine valley. Initally 25-30 javelinas made their way into the Lost Alaskan RV park in Alpine. By the time I made my camera ready to use only 1 straggler remained, and I had to chase him down on foot in order to get a good picture of him.
A Javalina forced out of the Davis Mountains and into Alpine Texas by cool fog.
Javelinas are members of the hippopotami sub order, and are the west Texas relatives of the African hippo.
